Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to oversee day-to-day coordination of emergency preparedness activities between on-site and off-site organizations. The role focuses on developing personnel, improving response performance, and maintaining facilities and communication systems to ensure readiness.

You will supervise training, monitor compliance with regulations, update the emergency plan, and coordinate exercises and drills across the fleet.

Qualifications

• 5 years nuclear power plant or equivalent emergency preparedness experience.
• Familiarity with CFR, guidelines, emergency preparedness programs, power plant operations, training methods and dose projection models.
• Associates degree or higher in a technical discipline desired. Equivalent experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that the organization is prepared to respond in the event of an emergency.
• Ensuring that the Emergency Plan requirements are appropriately and effectively implemented.
• Monitoring performance of Emergency Planning organization and Emergency Response organizations.
• Maintaining the Emergency Plan and implementing procedures.
• Maintaining cognizance of outstanding industry issues.
• Ensuring the the emergency facilities are maintained so that they function properly in the event of an emergency.
• Supports the ongoing operations of the fleet and is jointly accountable with fleet personnel for the fleet meeting its excellence plan.
