Job summary

Southern Nuclear is seeking an Electrical/ I&C Design Engineer for Plant Farley near Dothan, AL. The role involves design development, calculations, drawings changes, and cost/schedule preparation for plant modifications, with field walk downs for as-built verification.

The candidate should have a BS in Engineering (ABET-accredited) or a PE license, 3+ years of electrical engineering experience (nuclear preferred), and familiarity with PWR systems, industry standards, and ETAP/CAPTOR tools.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or a PE license.
• 3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience; nuclear power plant experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the nuclear power industry preferred.
• Experience with PWR systems and protection software tools like ETAP or CAPTOR.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate design development, calculation development and updates for plant modifications.
• Prepare project cost estimates and schedules; perform field walk downs for as-built verification and design constructability.
• Provide design oversight for external Architect/Engineering firms and interface with project managers and plant personnel to ensure design requirements are met.
• Manage special projects and support refueling outage roles including test and validation of modifications.
• Occasional on-call duty engineer and emergency plan response duties.
