Job summary

Southern Nuclear, based in Alabama, seeks an Electrical/I&C Design Engineer for Plant Farley near Dothan. You will design and coordinate electrical and I&C systems for plant modifications, perform field walk downs, and develop calculations, drawings, and cost estimates.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or a PE license.
• 3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience preferred.
• Nuclear power plant experience preferred.
• Background in engineering with working knowledge of applicable discipline codes and standards.
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the nuclear power industry preferred.
• Working knowledge in PWR Systems, structures and components preferred.
• Experience with electrical power system analysis and protection software such as ETAP or CAPTOR.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proven organizational skills with ability to balance multiple projects.
• Capable of working efficiently and effectively across organizations.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Design development coordination for plant modifications and retrofits.
• Prepare calculations, updates and drawing changes with cost estimates and schedules.
• Conduct field walk downs for as‑built verification and constructability.
• Provide design oversight for external Architect/Engineering firms and coordinate with project managers and other plant departments.
• May manage special projects and support key refueling outage roles.
• Engineering assignments may include on‑call duty and emergency plan response with a 90‑minute site report time.
