Job summary

Southern Nuclear in Alabama is seeking an Electrical / I&C Design Engineer

at Plant Farley near Dothan to design, analyze, and modify electrical and I&C systems for plant upgrades. You will coordinate design development, perform field walk downs for as-built verification, and ensure compliance with codes and regulatory requirements. The role includes interfacing with project managers and other plant departments, supporting outages, and providing design oversight for external engineers.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or a PE license.
• 3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience preferred.
• Nuclear power plant experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with electrical power system analysis and protection software.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate design development, calculation updates, and drawing changes for plant modifications.
• Perform field walk downs in industrial environments for as‑built verification and constructability.
• Provide design oversight for external Architect/Engineering firms and interface with project managers.
• Support outages and may take on special projects or post‑modification testing.
