Job summary

Leidos’ GSMO-II contract has an opening for a Network Software Engineer to support a Carrier-class WAN at Scott AFB, IL. You will develop tools using Python/NSO, integrate with Cisco/Juniper devices, and sustain customer networks while applying software engineering best practices.

You’ll work on REST APIs, JSON, and XML, ensuring secure, scalable solutions in a team-focused environment with rigorous standards and DoD involvement.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance or higher is required.
• DoD 8750 IAT II cert or Security+ CE or equivalent.
• Python development with REST API and JSON handling.
• Experience with Git/Bitbucket for version control.
• Experience developing on a Linux platform.
• Knowledge of routing: BGP/ISIS/OSPF/Static.
• Experience with Cisco/Juniper networking hardware interfaces.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test and release Python/XML software for NSO.
• Integrate software with Cisco ASR9K and Juniper MX routers.
• Plan and implement network changes for a WAN to support customer needs.
• Perform analytical research and design activities aligned with specs.
• Ensure contract capabilities are delivered using repeatable processes.
• Mitigate risks, manage costs and schedule variance on large projects.
• Conduct hardware/software design and implementation tasks.
• Identify, report and mitigate technical risks proactively.
• Collaborate with team members to meet project objectives.
