Job summary

Leidos’ GSMO-II group at Scott AFB, IL is seeking a Network Software Engineer Lead to own software development and release of NSO-based tools using Python and REST APIs. You will deploy and sustain a carrier-class WAN for DISA, integrating with Cisco ASR9K and Juniper MX routers in a DoD setting.

This role blends software engineering with network engineering in a fast-paced environment, requiring leadership, risk management, and collaboration across teams. Active DoD clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• BS degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience or MS with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
• Python development including REST API development and JSON parsing/validation.
• Experience with distributed version control (Git/Bitbucket) and Linux environments.
• Experience with Cisco/Juniper network devices and ISP-scale networks.
• Strong communication and ability to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing and release of software for the NSO platform.
• Integrate software with network devices (Cisco ASR9K, Juniper MX).
• Perform engineering tasks for network changes and sustainment in WAN environments.
• Plan and execute analytical research, design, and development aligned with customer specs.
• Mitigate risks, control costs, and manage large-scale projects.
• Mentor and provide SME guidance to lower-level engineers.
