Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Network Software Engineer in the Scott AFB, IL area to develop software tools for the Cisco NSO platform, using Python and XML, to support a Carrier-class WAN for DISA. The role emphasizes collaboration, risk management, and delivering repeatable software processes.

The candidate will interface with Cisco/Juniper routers and contribute to software design, testing, and deployment across a fast-paced defense-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience or a Master’s with less than 2 years.
• Experience with Python development including REST APIs and JSON handling.
• Experience with distributed version control systems (Git, Bitbucket).
• Experience developing on Linux.
• Experience with IP routing (BGP/IS-IS/OSPF/Static).
• Experience with Cisco/Juniper routers or similar networks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test and release software for NSO platform using Python, XML, and related languages.
• Integrate software with network devices such as Cisco ASR9K and Juniper MX.
• Perform design, implementation, and integration tasks for WAN environments.
• Plan, research, develop, and deliver contract capabilities using repeatable processes.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks and manage schedule variance.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve project objectives.
• Produce design artifacts, test cases, and deployment documentation.
