Job summary

Veza Manufacturing in Grand Rapids seeks a Project Engineer to drive customer projects from concept to production. You will partner across Accounting, Engineering, Purchasing and Production to deliver manufacturable, cost-effective solutions and manage milestones from quotation through launch.

You will review designs for manufacturability, develop BOMs, define labor plans, lead NPI activities, manage ECOs, and provide hands-on technical support, ensuring quality and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5 years in manufacturing or engineering environment (wire harness, cable assembly, or electronics preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of experience with CAD software.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Aerospace/defense/government contract experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define project scope with customers and Account Management, developing technically sound proposals.
• Develop accurate and profitable project quotations considering material costs, labor, tooling, and manufacturing considerations.
• Review designs for manufacturability, quality, and feasibility.
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) with Purchasing and cross-functional teams.
• Define labor plans, process flows, tooling requirements, and production methods to support efficient manufacturing.
• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from development to production.
• Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) including documentation and ERP updates.
• Provide hands-on technical expertise, including wire sizing, drawing review, and validation of specifications.
• Develop testing and validation methods to ensure product quality and process capability.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce cost and strengthen manufacturing performance.
• Maintain project documentation and release packages for production.
