Job summary

Teradyne's North Reading, MA production team is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to drive new product introduction for the Production Board Test group. You will coordinate across design, test, quality, supply chain, and contract manufacturers to ensure safe, repeatable, and scalable production from concept through transfer to high-volume manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting complex electro-mechanical or electronic products.
• Experience supporting NPI programs and transferring products from prototype into production.
• DFM, DFA, or DFT reviews to influence design.
• Experience creating production work instructions, test instructions, process specs, drawings, and training materials.
• Hands-on prototype, pilot, and ramp build support.
• Knowledge of BOMs, drawings, change processes, and configuration control.
• Strong problem-solving, project leadership, and cross-functional communication.
• Ability to travel up to 10% during ramps.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Operations manufacturing engineering lead for assigned PBT NPI programs from concept and prototype builds through production release and transfer to high-volume manufacturing.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews, providing Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, Design for Test, serviceability, ergonomics, safety, and production-scalability input.
• Identify manufacturing requirements and risks early enough to influence product design and avoid issues during prototype builds and production ramp.
• Develop, release, and maintain manufacturing documentation, including assembly work instructions, test instructions, process specifications, production drawings, process flows, visual aids, and training materials.
• Define manufacturing processes, assembly sequences, tooling, fixtures, equipment, inspection points, test interfaces, material flow, and process controls for repeatable production.
• Lead manufacturing-readiness reviews for prototype, pilot, and pre-production builds, confirming materials, documentation, tooling, equipment, test capability, staffing, and training are in place.
