Job summary

Teradyne in North Reading, MA, is seeking an NPI Manufacturing Engineer to bring new electro-mechanical products to life by partnering with cross-functional teams to move designs from concept through successful volume manufacturing.

You will apply established manufacturing engineering practices to develop assembly processes, create manufacturing documentation, design tooling, and investigate issues with root-cause analysis and cross-functional actions.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Two to six years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering or related field.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in improving electro-mechanical products.
Experience developing assembly processes from models and drawings.
Experience creating detailed assembly instructions or process docs.
Experience designing mechanical parts and fixtures with SolidWorks.
Familiarity with mechanical tools and fixtures for assemblies.
Experience using structured problem-solving to investigate issues.
Ability to adapt processes within established procedures.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 apps, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify manufacturing risks early in development.
Develop and execute manufacturing plans to transfer new products to volume manufacturing.
Build and evaluate electro-mechanical assemblies to define process flows.
Create detailed assembly instructions and process documentation for pilots and CM partners.
Review models, drawings, BOMs to establish assembly methods and requirements.
Identify need for tools/fixtures, design and qualify solutions.
Investigate issues with data collection and root-cause analysis with teams.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to design packaging solutions.
Provide technical support during pilot builds and transfers.
Train production and contract manufacturers on processes and requirements.
Prepare engineering reports and recommendations for project teams.
Contribute to additional NPI and manufacturing projects as needed.
