Job summary

Daikin Applied in Plymouth, MN seeks an NPI Manufacturing Engineer II to influence new product development through manufacturability, process definitions, and lean principles. You will collaborate with design, marketing, and operations to deliver robust processes that meet cost and quality targets.

You will lead lean initiatives, mentor engineers, and optimize labor utilization while ensuring safe, efficient production. This role requires hands-on problem solving and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Solidworks, AutoCAD 2D, MS Office and MS Project experience.
• Sheet metal fabrication and assembly using state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, including cellular manufacturing and Demand Flow Technology (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assists in design for manufacturability for new product development through cross functional product design teams.
• Establishes production process procedures and measurement parameters for new products and processes.
• Provides cost estimates for new, redesigned, and current products; specifies equipment/tools and obtains quotes for construction.
• Evaluates capital equipment investment options and prepares recommendations.
• Provides manufacturing engineering expertise to management and collaborates on manufacturing processes.
• Leads or participates in continuous improvement and cost-down events.
• Mentors less experienced engineers and leads organizational initiatives.
• Drives labor utilization analysis and estimates staffing and costs for management decisions.
• Designs layouts and workflow following lean manufacturing principles for maximum efficiency.
