Job summary

Dover Food Retail is seeking an Intern Engineer for New Product Development/Design to Value (NPD/DTV) in Richmond, VA. You will support refrigerated merchandisers and drive cost reductions across product lines using SolidWorks and DFMA principles.

The role involves cross-functional collaboration, design validation, and documentation control to help bring concepts to prototypes while applying value engineering for cost optimization.

Qualifications

• Rising Junior or Senior currently pursuing BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• SolidWorks design experience is required.
• MS Office experience is required.
• Component level testing via simulation, prototyping, design of experiments, etc.
• Critical thinking, trouble-shooting and problem-solving are essential.

Responsibilities

• Component and sub-assembly level part development using SolidWorks design software.
• Validation of design concepts through mechanical and performance testing in coordination with Engineering Test Lab.
• Integration of DFM/DFA methodologies through collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering.
• Application of value engineering to optimize new and existing product cost.
• Internal and cross-functional communication to progress designs from concept to working prototypes.
• Release of engineering documentation through change control process: models, drawings, BOMs, etc.
