Job summary

Dover Food Retail is seeking a New Product Development / Design to Value Engineer in Richmond, VA to lead design of refrigerated merchandisers and drive cost reduction across existing lines. You will apply value engineering, collaborate with Strategic Sourcing and Manufacturing Engineering, and manage projects from concept to completion.

Responsibilities include developing CAD solid models, simulating concepts, validating with customers, and guiding testing plans and field tests.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering is required.
• 1–3 years of experience in design of industrial products.
• Experience with product design and solid modeling in a manufacturing environment.
• MS Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Six Sigma and Lean tools experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Apply value engineering to optimize cost position.
• Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing and Manufacturing Engineering on cost-saving projects.
• Manage the DTV project from concept to completion, including scheduling and cross functional communication.
• Brainstorm new and innovative solutions to achieve product standardization and modularity.
• Develop CAD solid models and engineering simulation of proposed concepts.
• Collaborate with Product Management to validate the solution with the customer.
• Develop a test plan and work with the Engineering Lab to validate the solution.
• Conduct field tests to validate the solution.
