Job summary

Dover Food Retail is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to support NPD and Design to Value efforts for refrigerated merchandisers in Richmond, VA. You will contribute to component development, testing, and cost-reduction initiatives alongside experienced engineers.

The role emphasizes hands-on design with SolidWorks, DFM/ DFA practices, and documentation control, offering exposure to cross-functional teams and real-world manufacturing challenges during a paid internship in a full-time

Qualifications

• Rising Junior or Senior currently pursuing BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• SolidWorks design experience.
• MS Office experience.
• Component level testing via simulation, prototyping, design of experiments, etc.
• Critical thinking, trouble-shooting and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop components and sub-assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Validate designs through mechanical and performance testing.
• Apply DFM/DFA methodologies with Manufacturing Engineering.
• Apply value engineering to optimize product cost.
• Release engineering documents through change control: models, drawings, BOMs.
