Job summary

The Fay School seeks a substitute teacher to provide instruction, monitor student progress, and manage the classroom in the absence of a full-time classroom teacher.

The position is temporary and non-benefit eligible, reporting to the principal. Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans, maintaining order, and using school apps for communication and coordination.

Qualifications

  • Ability to enthusiastically work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform sustained standing and walking, navigating stairs, kneeling, lifting up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Implement existing lesson plans to ensure academic time and motivate students.
  • Instruct students on a variety of classroom topics and courses of instruction.
  • Follow lesson plans as required by the school.
  • Assign tasks and homework in accordance with lesson plans.
  • Address diverse learning styles of students accordingly.
  • Demonstrate professional teaching practices.
  • Maintain a safe, positive classroom environment for all students and staff.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students and the classroom environment for health and safety.
  • May supervise students in assemblies, lunchroom, schoolyard.
  • Use school apps on a personal smartphone to communicate, collaborate, and fulfill responsibilities.

Job description

In the absence of the full-time classroom teacher, the substitute teacherprovidesinstruction, encourages student\'s progress, and manages the learning environment. The Substitute Teacher position is a temporary, non-benefit eligible position that reports to thePrincipal.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn and participate.
  • Instruct studentsregardinga variety of classroom topics and courses of instruction.
  • Follow lesson plans as required bythe school.
  • Assign reasonable tasks and homework to studentsin accordance withthe lesson plans.
  • Address the various learning styles of students accordingly.
  • Demonstrate professional practices in teaching.
  • Maintain classroom control that fosters a safe, positive environment for all students and staff.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students and the classroom environment to assure the health, welfare, and safety of allstudents.
  • May supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom, schoolyard).
  • Willingand able to routinely and appropriately use personalsmartphonetoutilizeschool apps to communicate, collaborate, and fulfill responsibilities as outlined in this Performance Profile.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to enthusiastically work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions including rain, cold, heat, etc. and on various surfaces, some inclined, including grass, dirt, trails, decking, pavement, and concrete.
  • Ability to perform sustained standing and walking, navigating stairs, kneeling, lifting, and carrying up to 20 lbs.,monitoringchildren and the immediate environment visibly and audibly and the ability to give audible instructions that can be understood by English speakers in a loud environment.
