Top Echelon Software, LLC. is assisting a respected CPA firm in Greater Chicagoland to recruit an Audit Manager specializing in Not-for-Profit organizations.

This role leads nonprofit audits, mentors staff, strengthens client relationships, and offers a clear path toward Partnership within a collaborative environment.

CPA preferred; 5–7+ years in public accounting with GAAP/GAAS knowledge are expected, along with a commitment to work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; master's degree a plus.
• 5–7+ years of audit experience within a public accounting firm.
• Demonstrated experience managing audit engagements from planning through completion.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience supervising, reviewing, and developing audit staff.
• Excellent client relationship management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, and priorities.

Responsabilités

• Lead and manage audit engagements for nonprofit clients.
• Oversee planning, fieldwork, financial reporting and deliverables.
• Develop audit strategies, budgets, staffing plans, and timelines.
• Review financial statements, workpapers, and management letters.
• Ensure engagements meet professional standards.
• Resolve complex accounting issues through research.
• Serve as primary contact for nonprofit clients.
• Build strong client relationships through responsive service.
• Provide recommendations to improve reporting and controls.
• Communicate progress and findings to client leadership.
• Collaborate with Partners on strategy and development.
• Supervise and mentor audit staff.
• Review staff workpapers and provide guidance.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling and budgets.
• Support staff development and advancement.
• Apply nonprofit accounting principles.
• Review Form 990 filings with engagements.
• Assist with procedures and other assurance engagements.
• Stay updated with standards and regulatory developments.
