Job summary

Chicago Public Media is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead daily accounting operations, oversee the general ledger, and drive month-end close with a strong not-for-profit accounting foundation.

The role supervises three direct reports and interacts with multiple levels to ensure audit readiness and accurate regulatory reporting, while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of not-for-profit and/or public accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Experience managing direct reports.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger and ensure accuracy of transactions and reconciliations.
• Lead month-end close and close calendar adherence.
• Oversee Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets subledger close.
• Lead monthly variance analysis and preparation of financial statements.
• Support audit, tax filings, and regulatory and grantor reporting.
