Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Substation Project Engineer to join our growing team of Power Delivery professionals. The role centers on high voltage substation design, protection & control, and independent work with mentorship of junior engineers.

Opportunities are available in multiple locations including Boise. The role involves coordinating with Civil/Structural and other departments, preparing scopes and budgets, and traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Electrical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience in Power Market Sector project execution and design.
• Proficiency with MS Office and standard engineering design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support creating scopes, schedules, and budgets and ensure they are met.
• Understand substation design including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, and power systems.
• Understand protection and control design and relay panel wiring.
• Prepare equipment specifications and study calculations (grounding, lighting protection, load studies).
• Coordinate design activities with Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission Line teams.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
