Job summary

Sealed Air is seeking a North America EHS &S Director to lead strategy and execution across 48+ facilities. The role partners with Operations and senior leadership to strengthen EHS performance, standardize systems, and prioritize risk-based improvements with significant travel (≈60%).

The ideal candidate brings extensive manufacturing EHS leadership, deep knowledge of machine safety, LOTO, and regulatory requirements (OSHA/EPA).

Qualifications

• Significant progressive EHS leadership experience within manufacturing environments.
• Experience leading EHS across multiple manufacturing facilities, preferably regional or North America scale.
• Technical depth in machine safety, guarding, LOTO / hazardous energy, electrical safety, equipment risk, operational risk, and Management of Change.
• Experience influencing or managing significant capital investments and CAPEX prioritization, with risk-based business cases.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. EHS regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA) and familiarity with DOT/NFPA standards.
• Environmental-management experience and exposure to sustainability initiatives.
• Experience implementing and governing enterprise EHS management systems, audits, standards, corrective actions, and performance metrics.
• Ability to lead experienced EHS professionals and influence senior Operations and Plant leaders.
• Strong change-management capability and adoption of new systems and ways of working across sites.
• Executive communication skills translating technical risk into operational and financial implications.
• Data-driven decision-making while navigating incomplete data.
• Ability to travel approximately 60% throughout North America.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field; advanced degree and certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the North America EHS&S strategy across a multi-site manufacturing network.
• Standardize EHS management systems, governance, audit processes, and regional deployment of global standards.
• Identify and reduce critical manufacturing risks including machine safety, guarding, LOTO, electrical safety, and contractor safety.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance to integrate EHS requirements into plant operations and capital projects.
• Drive capital planning and EHS investment prioritization; develop risk-based business cases.
• Oversee environmental compliance and sustainability performance across the region.
• Establish and monitor EHS metrics, KPIs, audit findings, incident trends, and corrective actions.
• Develop and mentor Regional EHS Managers and site-level teams; ensure accountability across locations.
• Influence Plant Managers and senior leaders without always relying on direct authority.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, CAPA, and systemic risk-reduction initiatives.
• Support EHS integration for acquisitions and major projects.
