Job summary

Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas (LANWT) is seeking a dynamic Staff Accountant to join our accounting team in Fort Worth. The role focuses on GAAP-compliant financial records, grant tracking, and funder reporting to support nonprofit operations.

You will maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries including payroll allocations, perform month-end close, and assist with audits. Strong Excel skills and nonprofit experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Assoc degree in accounting; 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Bachelor's preferred; 2+ years nonprofit/grant accounting preferred.
• GAAP and fund accounting knowledge.
• Experience with Abila MIP or QuickBooks in nonprofit settings.
• Proficient in Excel; strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger and record financial transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries including payroll allocations.
• Close monthly and year-end; ensure accurate reporting.
• Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts.
• Track grant expenditures and funder reporting.
• Assist CFO with annual audit; prepare schedules.
• Support internal controls and compliance.
• Collaborate to improve financial systems.
