Job summary

Heartland for Children is seeking a professional in finance to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with state and federal funding requirements, including gifts and grants. The role supports internal decision making and external audits by maintaining financial integrity across statements.

The position collaborates with the CFO and contracts team, reconciles ledgers, prepares annual budgets, and participates in audits and quarterly reviews to ensure program deliverables are met with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Experience in not-for-profit accounting preferred.
• Microsoft Excel required.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with HFC internal and external customers.
• Assist the CFO with monthly financial reports.
• Reconcile master trust accounts with the resource specialist.
• Prepare budget documents for annual submission to the Board of Directors.
• Assist the finance and contracts team in reconciling the general ledger to data systems.
• Create monthly and quarterly check requests for a variety of vendors.
• Participate in the annual single audit with the designated audit firm.
• Routinely analyze general ledger accounts for compliance with allowable expenses.
• Reconcile bank statements timely.
• Attend executive management team meetings to provide updates as required.
• Attend meetings to provide budget and finance updates as requested.
• Meet with contract to review quarterly reconciliation of contracts.
• Complete required reporting to ensure the contract deliverables are being met with the Department of Children and Families.
• Assist with special projects as assigned.
