Job summary

Public Lab is hiring a Business and Operations Manager in New Orleans to oversee the nonprofit's financial, HR, and operational functions. The role centers on building efficient processes, managing budgets, reports, payroll, and staff communications while coordinating with an external CPA and board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance, business or related field; 3–5 years experience required.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting including grant tracking and reporting.
• Experience with multiple funding sources (grants, memberships, earned revenue) for different programs.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day bookkeeping including monthly closes, invoicing, reimbursements, and donation/sales processing.
• Prepare financial reporting: balance sheets, P&L, budgets, and grant Reports.
• Support HR processes: payroll, staff requests, training, handbook and contracts.
• Coordinate Board meetings logistics; assist with audits and regulatory filings.
• Ensure compliance with grantors and internal policies; improve financial workflows.
