Job summary

Cristo Rey Fort Worth College Prep is seeking a Controller to lead financial operations for a mission-driven nonprofit high school. You will oversee statements, general ledger, and internal controls, while guiding budgeting, audits, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 5–7 years of nonprofit financial management, GAAP expertise, and strong communication skills. Collaboration with leadership and the CWSP program is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Develop and monitor the annual budget in collaboration with the school’s leadership team.
• Coordinate and lead the annual financial audit process.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including tax filings.
• Maintain compliance with Cristo Rey Network and diocesan financial reporting requirements.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tuition collection processes.
• Manage employee benefits and contracts; maintain insurance.
• Oversee cash management and forecasting to ensure liquidity for operational needs.
• Collaborate with CWSP to align billing and collections with program operations.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making by leadership and board.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
• Participate in long-term financial planning to sustain the mission.
• Supervise finance and accounting staff and collaborate with leadership on fundraising and donor stewardship.
