Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Controller for a nonprofit organization in the Elkridge, MD area. This hybrid, on-site role leads accounting operations, ensures GAAP-compliant reporting, and partners with leadership to translate financial insights into strategic decisions.

Qualifications

5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience in nonprofit settings.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, financial statements, and monthly reporting.
Experience with nonprofit financial operations including grants and restricted funding.
Familiarity with 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) environments.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (GL, payables, receivables, payroll, reconciliations).
Lead month-end and year-end closes with accurate accruals and supporting docs.
Prepare monthly reporting, statements, and budget-to-actual analyses per GAAP.
Manage grant reporting, restricted funds, and expense allocations.
Coordinate audits and assist with tax filings and regulatory reporting.
