Alliance Resource Group is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit to hire an experienced Controller who will lead accounting operations and provide strategic financial oversight during growth. This is a high-visibility role requiring hands-on leadership.

The Controller will work closely with executive leadership, oversee daily accounting activities, strengthen internal controls, and ensure accurate, timely GAAP-based financial reporting across programs.

Qualifikationen

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
• Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting.
• Experience with grant accounting, fund accounting, and restricted contributions.
• Experience managing annual audits and internal controls.
• Familiarity with grant funding and compliance requirements is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems.

Aufgaben

• Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including GL, payables, receivables, payroll, and close.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under GAAP.
• Ensure compliance with ASC 958 and fund accounting standards.
• Lead the annual financial audit with external auditors.
• Oversee grant accounting and monitoring of restricted/unrestricted funds.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow.
• Prepare reports for senior leadership, board, and committees.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Oversee cash management and bank reconciliations across programs.
• Ensure timely Form 990 preparation and regulatory reporting.
• Identify process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Mentor and develop the accounting team.
• Support department leaders with budgeting and resource allocation.
