Job summary

CLA is seeking a Controller for our Non-Profit Services CAAS practice with opportunities in Chicago and nearby locations. You will serve as the Controller for designated clients, advise on accounting and finance practices, and manage multiple engagements with deadlines.

The ideal candidate has eight years of relevant accounting/financial experience, a bachelor's degree, nonprofit and public accounting experience preferred, and CPA is a plus. CLA offers competitive compensation and career growth.

Qualifications

• Eight years of accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Bachelor's degree required; combination of experience and education may be considered.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit is highly preferred.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Project management and client management experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Controller for designated nonprofit clients within the CAAS practice.
• Advise on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Manage multiple clients, workstreams, and deadlines as a project manager.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and provide recommendations.
• Develop opportunities and participate in industry events and trainings.
• Maintain knowledge of policies, directives and current accounting standards.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives and actions.
