Job summary

CLA is seeking an Assistant Controller for our Nonprofit Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice. Roles span Quincy, Andover, Boston, Worcester, New Bedford, MA and Cranston, RI locations as part of a collaborative client services team.

You will manage accounting functions, advise clients on best practices, and lead project delivery while maintaining GAAP know-how and proficiency in major accounting software.

Qualifications

• 6 years of relevant accounting/financial experience.
• Experience in nonprofit industry preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required; combination of related experience may be accepted.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency in listed accounting software (QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Foundations, Xero, Peoplesoft).

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for the client accounting services team.
• Act as a consultant on accounting and finance best practices.
• Provide project management across multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster opportunities for clients, communities, and people.
• Attend industry events and training to stay current.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, federal/state directives, and current accounting standards.
