Job summary

CLA is seeking an Assistant Controller for our Nonprofit Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice in our MA/RI locations. You will lead client accounting services, produce financial statements, and advise on best practices for nonprofit finance in a collaborative environment.

This role emphasizes project management, client advisory, and adherence to GAAP, supporting continued growth across Quincy, Andover, Boston, Worcester, New Bedford, MA and Cranston, RI locations.

Qualifications

• 6 years of accounting/financial experience.
• Experience in nonprofit industry strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required; combination of experience and education may be accepted.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency in accounting software (listed above).

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for multiple nonprofit clients.
• Act as a consultant and advisor on accounting and finance engagements.
• Provide project management by handling multiple clients, work streams, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster opportunities for clients and communities.
• Maintain knowledge of policies, regulations, and current accounting standards.
