Job summary

Asian Law Caucus seeks an Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day nonprofit accounting operations, close cycles, and grant reporting. You will supervise external accounting partners, maintain internal controls, and ensure GAAP compliance across funds.

The role reports to the Director of Finance, supports budgeting, audits, and financial reporting for leadership and boards. Hybrid in San Francisco with generous benefits and a strong nonprofit mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible non-profit accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with nonprofit fund accounting, restricted funds, and grant tracking.
• Experience with organizational budgeting.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close with Director of Finance and external partners.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial records for accuracy.
• Monitor grants and fund accounting; ensure proper coding by grant, fund, and program.
• Oversee external bookkeeping and ensure timely deliverables.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and budget analyses.
• Support audits, Form 990, 1099 reporting, and compliance filings.
• Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting policies and workflows.
