Job summary

MEDA in San Francisco seeks a Senior Grants and Contracts Accountant to own the financial management of the grant portfolio, including general ledger, cost allocation, and funder reporting. Hybrid role requiring in-office presence four days a week and collaboration with program and finance teams.

Responsibilities include timely invoicing, drawdowns, budget monitoring, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and Uniform Guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience with general ledger responsibility.
• 5+ years of grants & contracts management and accounting, including funder billing and drawdowns.
• Working knowledge of GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and city fiscal compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger: Prepare and review grant-related journal entries, reclasses, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Cost Allocation: Run monthly shared cost process and payroll allocations across funding sources.
