Job summary

RurAL CAP is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations in Anchorage. You will ensure GAAP compliance, manage month-end close, and support financial reporting for a nonprofit organization.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong leadership skills to supervise staff and collaborate across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and general accounting practices.
• Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting functions including AP/AR, payroll, and GL activity.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports; ensure GAAP compliance.
• Assist in budgeting and variance analysis; support departmental financial tracking.
• Maintain internal controls and assist with audits; ensure grant reporting compliance.
• Lead and develop accounting staff; collaborate with program and leadership teams.
