LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a mission-driven organization in NYC to add an Accounting Manager who owns the close process, works with fund accounting, and thrives in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.

This role involves heavy day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring GAAP-compliant reporting, and supporting external reporting and audits while supervising one junior accountant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4–6+ years of accounting experience, including nonprofit exposure.
• Strong GAAP knowledge with ASC 958 experience.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Grant and fund accounting background is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups).
• Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable in a fast-paced setting.
• Collaborative mindset with an interest in improving processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and support the integrity of financial reporting.
• Oversee month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Maintain general ledger and ensure GAAP-compliant activity.
• Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analyses for leadership.
• Oversee grant and fund accounting, including restricted/unrestricted funding and ASC 958 considerations.
• Track restricted funds and ensure donor-restricted releases align with requirements.
• Support audits and assist with Form 990 preparation and external reporting.
• Manage one junior accountant.
