Job summary

Mental Health Association is seeking a full-time on-site Accountant in Chicopee, MA. You will maintain corporate accounting records, prepare monthly financial statements, and support audits and reporting for multiple entities.

Responsibilities include GL reconciliations, journal entries, AP processing, invoicing, depreciation, and year-end pack preparation. Strong Excel/Word and Blackbaud experience preferred; MA nonprofit knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or three years of work experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP, accounting cycle procedures, and Massachusetts nonprofit requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication and computer skills; accurate computations.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries and monthly closings.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and distribute to contacts.
• Generate monthly invoices and distribute to internal/external contacts.
• Process client movements, rent changes, and security deposits for multiple companies.
• Maintain journals and ledgers including cash receipt/disbursement and sales journals.
• Review and process accounts payable; analyze budget, issue payments, upload positive pay, file A/P.
• Process monthly credit card and billing invoices with Accountant.
• Process monthly fringe invoices from Accountant Supervisor.
• Count laundry change with other Accountant and process deposits weekly.
• Complete weekly work orders with Accountant team.
• Record and maintain fixed assets and depreciation across multiple companies.
• Coordinate with VP of Property Management on tasks.
• Maintain online systems incl. HUD; annual 1099 & 3ABC reporting for vendors.
• Respond to information requests and perform accounting analyses.
