Job summary

Kings Community Action Organization in Kings County, CA seeks an Accountant to perform professional accounting duties in a grant-funded nonprofit environment. Under supervision, you will manage journal entries, reconciliations, and payroll and AP tasks to support the Finance Department.

Responsibilities include posting to the general ledger, reconciling accounts, processing childcare payments, and assisting with audits and monthly/year-end closings as needed.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in accounting or related field.
• Two (2) years' accounting experience, including posting to the general ledger and reconciling accounts, with a general understanding of accounting principles, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
• OR Four (4) years general accounting experience, including posting to the general ledger and reconciling accounts, with a general understanding of accounting principles, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, post and reconcile journal entries, including recurring manual journals, adjusting journals, prepaid expenses, and depreciation.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts as requested by the Finance Manager.
• Process monthly child care provider payments, including importing, posting, reconciling, and processing payments with program and Fiscal staff.
• Post regular deposits and ensure proper account coding to applicable projects and general ledger accounts.
• Provide regular expense reports to Department Directors and assist with month-end or year-end closing.
