Ideal candidates have 5+ years in FRP fabrication/inspection, knowledge of ASME/ASTM standards, and experience with vessel/piping inspections.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certificate in engineering/technology preferred.
  • 5+ years in non-metals/FRP fabrication or refractory fabrication/inspection.
  • Experience with vessel and piping inspections is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with teamwork ability.
  • Knowledge of maintenance work processes is preferred.
  • Understanding of thermoplastics, welding, laminates, and ASME/ASTM FRP standards preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Prior Olin experience preferred.
  • Must obtain TWIC and possess a valid US driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect non-metallic equipment to determine fitness for service; develop inspection techniques for FRP/thermoplastics.
  • Provide material of construction recommendations and coating system choices; oversee installation/repair quality.
  • Troubleshoot failures; perform testing; participate in root-cause analysis for FRP/thermoplastic equipment.
  • Support capital and maintenance projects; oversee offsite shop fabrication inspection and testing.
  • Create/update job specs, procedures, and failure analysis reports.

Focus:

The Non-Metals Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides specialized knowledge on Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic, thermoplastic technologies, coatings, refractory, and other non-metal applications. This expertise supports the design, fabrication, inspection, fitness for service evaluation, repair, and maintenance of non-metallic equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • In support of Olin’s mechanical integrity program (OASIS), perform internal and external inspections of non-metallic equipment to determine fitness for service; recommend appropriate actions based on findings. Develop, evaluate, and improve inspection techniques for FRP and thermoplastic equipment.
  • Provide material of construction recommendations and procedures for repairs and modifications. Specify resinous coating systems for the protection of concrete substrates (secondary spill containment, sumps, etc.). Provide installation / repair oversight to ensure quality application.
  • Troubleshoot failures including inspections, performing physical testing, reviewing operating procedures, etc. Participate in failure analysis for FRP and thermoplastic equipment to establish root cause of failures and optimize corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support for both capital and maintenance projects. Oversee offsite shop fabrication inspection and testing of new equipment to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Create/update/maintain job specifications, procedures, operating discipline, failure analysis reports and other documents as applicable.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree* or certificate in engineering or technology preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant non-metals/FRP fabrication/inspection experience or refractory fabrication/inspection experience.
  • Experience with vessel and piping inspections and evaluations is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as interpersonal capability and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Work Process preferred
  • Functional understanding of the uses and applications of thermoplastics, thermoplastics welding and fabrication, design calculations, laminate behavior, mechanical and physical properties of composites, ASME and ASTM standards related to FRP and thermoplastics preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
