Job summary

Olin is seeking a Project Engineer in Plaquemine, LA to lead process-improvement and maintenance projects. • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; chemical or mechanical preferred.
• 1+ years of project/manufacturing experience; chemical environment preferred.
• Experience with vendor proposals, contractor bids, and solution development.
• Demonstrated problem solving and teamwork ability.
• SAP experience preferred; strong MS Office and PO processes helpful.

Responsibilities

• Partner with operations and maintenance to identify data for improving plant operation and equipment.
• Facilitate sessions to identify projects, value, and feasibility for a strong improvement pipeline.
• Prepare scopes of work with site resources and review with Purchasing.
• Develop cost estimates at FEL levels; prepare CARs and proposals.
• Manage projects through FEL process using Capital Project Management System.
• Support field construction by interpreting plans and schedules; ensure safety and quality.
• Set up cost control and reporting; track engineering and construction costs within budget.
• Ensure PSM elements like MOC and PSSR are satisfied; address hazard review inputs.

Focus: The Project Engineer works with Operations and Maintenance personnel to identify and lead both process improvement and maintenance/reliability project opportunities.

Project Engineer Essential Job Functions

• Partner with plant operation and maintenance personnel to identify, gather, and analyze information and data relating to improved plant operation and equipment.
• Facilitate idea sessions to identify projects, value, and feasibility, ensuring a healthy pipeline of improvement project ideas.
• Prepare detailed scopes of work for proposed projects in conjunction with other site resources, such as production engineering, maintenance and reliability, safety, and environmental representatives.
• Prepare detailed specifications for materials and equipment and prepare installation scopes of work to enable Purchasing to obtain competitive bids. Review bid analysis and make recommendations to Purchasing.
• Develop project cost estimates at FEL1, FEL2, and FEL3 levels; prepare project proposals and Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs).
• Manage projects throughout the FEL process via Olin's Capital Project Management System.
• Support field construction efforts through interpretation of plans, specifications, schedules, and work with assigned construction personnel to ensure a safe, timely, cost effective, and quality project execution.
• Set up cost control and reporting for assigned projects. Monitor and manage various states of engineering and construction costs to ensure that each project is completed within the budgeted appropriation.
• Ensure that all required elements of PSM are satisfied, including MOC, PSSR, and that hazard review inputs are addressed.

Project Engineer Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree* in Engineering; Chemical or Mechanical engineering discipline preferred.
• 1+ years of project/manufacturing experience; chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with managing vendor proposals and quotations, contractor bids, and development of desired solutions for projects preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work in a team environment.
• Demonstrated use of purchase order processing systems, project management software, spreadsheet, and Microsoft Office systems; SAP experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills – verbal and written.
• Prior Olin experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and possess a valid US Driver's license.
