Job summary

AdventHealth in Lenexa, KS is seeking a part-time Surgical Tech to support sterile preparation and instrument handling for various surgical procedures. You will assist the surgeon, maintain sterile technique, and help with room turnover between cases.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years as a certified surgical tech, strong interpersonal skills, and certification in BLS. The role offers day shifts and benefits as part of a faith-based health system.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• Technical/vocational schooling preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.
• NBSTSA CSFA certification preferred.
• SA-C certification required.
• BLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Prepares sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and meds.
• Performs counts with circulator before incision and prior to closure.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists with room prep and terminal cleaning between cases.
• Handles surgical specimens with care and accuracy.
• Responds promptly to emergencies.
• Passes instruments to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique throughout procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and instruments for sterilization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Helps in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
