AdventHealth is seeking an experienced Operating Room First Assistant to support surgical teams across multiple facilities. You will prepare suites, assist during procedures, and help ensure patient safety and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
The role requires reading/writing/speaking English, BLS CPR, and CSA certification. Prior first assistant experience and willingness to travel within the AdventHealth system are highly valued.

Utilizes physician preference cards to set up operating suites with appropriate surgical equipment and supplies. Assists the surgeon during surgeries by providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions. Positions patients appropriately, uses stabilizing equipment when necessary, and prioritizes patient comfort and safety. Provides visualization for operative sites using tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suction, and irrigation. Achieves temporary and permanent hemostasis by applying appropriate techniques. Assists with body plane closures, wound dressing applications, and securing drainage systems. Promotes a safe environment and takes appropriate action in emergency situations. Maintains awareness and control of hazards that may endanger patients, visitors, and employees. Ensures adherence to appropriate regulatory standards and hospital policies and procedures. Assists the team with safe and appropriate operating room turnover times in an efficient and organized manner. Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment. Performs other duties as assigned.
