All interested applicants for a Non-CDL Driver position, including those fully qualified with the appropriate license and endorsements, start as a Driver in Training. We invest significantly in training and development to ensure our drivers are the best in the industry.

A Driver in Training will receive training from our staff to obtain necessary Driver endorsement(s), learn our company policies and procedures, and meet all requirements for the position. Upon successful completion of the training, the Driver in Training will be promoted to a Non-CDL Driver role.

Responsibilities Include

• Providing safe and reliable transportation by operating a school bus or other designated vehicle on fixed or changing routes.
• Exhibiting high ethical standards and integrity; reporting suspicious or inappropriate behavior to supervisors.
• Reporting on time and maintaining punctual and safe routes.
• Assisting passengers physically during emergency evacuations.
• Reporting accidents or incidents immediately according to company policy.
• Adhering to company policies on student and passenger management.
• Informing relevant personnel of issues or procedural updates.
• Maintaining a neat and professional appearance at all times.
• Completing all required paperwork promptly, including route sheets, time cards, and vehicle repair requests.
• Maintaining a cooperative attitude with colleagues, supervisors, customers, and passengers to promote goodwill.
• Operating vehicle equipment safely, including wheelchair lifts, radios, and emergency tools.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
• Additional responsibilities for Paratransit Drivers may apply depending on location.

Qualifications

Requirements Include:

• Must be at least 21 years old; for Tennessee, at least 25 years old.
• Possession or ability to obtain and maintain valid state licenses and certifications to operate company vehicles.
• Meeting physical and medical requirements and passing substance abuse screening.
• Successfully completing all required training.
• Practicing defensive driving and safe work habits to avoid accidents.
• Compliance with all relevant federal, state, county, district, and contractual driver requirements.
