Job summary

Lincoln Computer Services in Hicksville, NY is seeking a NOC Engineer / Junior Network Engineer to join our Network Operations and Security team. You will monitor client network environments, respond to alerts, perform first-level troubleshooting, and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.

The ideal candidate has a foundation in networking and will gain hands-on experience with firewalls, switches, VPNs, wireless networks, and other critical infrastructure in an MSP setting.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of IT support, NOC, network support, or related technical experience.
• Strong understanding of core networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing/switching, NAT, VPNs, firewalls, LAN/WAN connectivity.
• Familiarity with network monitoring and alerting concepts.
• Ability to perform structured troubleshooting and identify whether an issue is network, ISP, server, endpoint, or security related.
• Basic understanding of network and security logs.
• Experience with ticketing systems and documenting troubleshooting activities.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to follow documented escalation and incident-response procedures.
• Ability to work from the Hicksville, NY office and provide onsite client support when required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor client network environments and respond to alerts.
• Provide Level 1 network troubleshooting and support for connectivity, performance, and availability issues.
• Investigate alerts involving routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other network infrastructure.
• Perform initial troubleshooting of outages, latency, and interface errors.
• Escalate security-related events to SOC or security engineering resources.
• Open, update, and manage incidents in the ticketing system.
• Coordinate with ISPs, vendors, and senior engineers during incidents.
• Assist senior engineers with firewall, switching, and deployments.
• Maintain accurate client network documentation.
• Support client environments remotely and onsite as required.
