Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a patient care technician to support RN in the 34402 Aurora St. Lukes South Shore Med Surg unit in Wisconsin. This full-time role, scheduled 2300-0730 with rotating weekends and holidays, involves assisting with basic patient care, documentation, and safety.

You must have GED/HSED or high school diploma and BLS certification within 45 days, plus Nurse Aide in good standing. The position offers a 40-hour week, competitive pay between $20.80 and $31.20 per hour, and

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.

• Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily patient care including bathing, feeding, and ambulation.
• Measures and documents vital signs and intake/output in EMR.
• Performs rounding and communicates observations to RN.
• Supports admission, transfer and discharge under supervision.
• Collects specimens and assists with lab/point-of-care testing.
• Performs errands, stocks nursing area, cleans equipment and work areas.
• Positioning and transporting duties and dietary support as directed.
• Maintains skin care and uses devices like TED hose as needed.
• May remove IVs and assist with post mortem care per unit requirements.
• Follows infection prevention policies and age-specific patient care standards.
