Job summary

Block Communications, Inc. seeks a NOC Analyst I to monitor Data, Voice, Video networks, software services, and IT facilities. You will work under the NOC Supervisor to detect incidents, manage outages, and maintain SLAs while creating thorough documentation and reports.

The role requires strong monitoring, troubleshooting, and escalation skills, with a focus on proactive problem solving across multiple networks and vendors in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associates degree preferred.
• Associates degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or CS or related technical field required.
• Three years of NOC or related experience in lieu of degree required.
• Associate level certification from Cisco, Juniper, etc. required.
• ITIL certification and carrier/enterprise experience highly preferred.
• Knowledge of EMS/SNMP, TCP/IP, and routing protocols preferred.

Responsibilities

• Constant proactive surveillance of networks using monitoring systems.
• Respond to alarms and identify issues before customer impact.
• Escalate incidents to appropriate teams with clear documentation.
• Routine maintenance to maximize performance and reliability.
• Provide first-level support and act as escalation point for other departments.
• Own outages end-to-end and document post-mortems.
• Maintain up-to-date network documentation per standards.
• Generate regular activity and outage reports.
• Understand network elements from customer to service origin.
• Apply firmware/software upgrades to keep systems current.
• Manage SLAs and triage outages for customers and providers.
• Maintain knowledge of all equipment and software supported by the department.
• Adhere to company policies, safety, and confidentiality rules.
• Perform other departmental duties as needed.
