Job summary

National Grid Telecoms NMC is seeking a Shift Engineer to monitor and control our Telecoms/SCADA networks from Taunton. You’ll deliver remote configuration, fault analysis and 1st/2nd line support, with a five-week shift pattern for 24/7 coverage. Initial training and potential salary progression are part of the role.

The position involves working with field teams, design and commercial units to ensure a reliable, secure network. A National Security Vetting process applies.

Qualifications

• Experience in Network Management Centre operations and frontline support.
• Ability to configure and fault-find network elements.
• Knowledge of Layer 2/3 IP networks and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline operational support within the NMC environment.
• Perform remote configuration of Telecoms and SCADA networks.
• Ensure continuity of service and collaborate with contractors and customers.
