Job summary

Endeavor Health seeks a Patient Safety Observer to monitor patients remotely or at the bedside to ensure safety. The role involves continuous observation, verbal redirection, and rapid escalation to nursing staff in emergencies. You will work nights, with rotating weekends and holidays, in Chicago, IL.

You'll use video monitoring software, maintain privacy, and collaborate with floor staff. Requires high school education; CNA preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Ability to sit for long periods and remain attentive.
• React quickly in emergencies and alert nursing staff as needed.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in verbal and written communications.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates commitment to the hospital mission and adheres to responsibilities and standards.
• Understands and uses video monitoring software.
• Maintains continuous visual observation of patients, bedside or via video monitors.
• Verbally redirects patients and alerts nursing staff when needed.
• Provides observation tailored to patient population.
• Participates in shift handoffs and reviews pertinent information.
• Does not perform nursing care duties unless oriented and authorized.
• Communicates necessary information to floor staff promptly.
• Maintains patient dignity and privacy and follows safety programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Capable of monitoring up to 16 patients on one monitor.
• Effective communication with patients via microphone/headset and with hospital staff.
