Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Patient Safety Observer in Chicago, IL. You will monitor patients remotely or at the bedside, providing continuous observation and verbal redirection while ensuring confidentiality and quick escalation to nursing staff when needed.

The role is full-time, nights (7pm–7:30am) with rotating weekends and holidays, requiring flexibility and strong communication skills to support hospital safety programs.

Qualifications

• High School required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Ability to sit for long periods and remain attentive.
• Ability to react quickly in emergency situations, to give verbal redirection to patients and to alert nursing staff as needed.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required.
• Proficiency in both verbal and written communications.

Responsibilities

• Monitors patients remotely via video monitor or bedside observation.
• Communicates with patients via microphone and headset.
• Summons nursing staff when assistance is needed.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and follows hospital policies.
• Ensures safety by redirecting potentially unsafe behaviors and reporting safety issues.
• Participates in shift handoffs and reporting of patient observations.
• Capable of monitoring up to 16 patients at a time and staying alert on duty.
