Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a Unit Assistant for the General Surgery unit (8E LAN) to support nursing staff and help deliver patient care during night shifts.

Under RN supervision, you will perform routine patient care, collect data, and provide clerical support on the unit. Required: high school diploma, health unit coordinator training or equivalent, and healthcare clerical experience; EMR and data entry skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completed health unit coordinator course or medical terminology/data entry coursework.
• Specialized education options include nursing assistant, EMT, or medical assistant programs, or clinical rotation.
• Six months of nursing assistant or healthcare clerical experience if above education not met.
• Six months of clerical experience in a healthcare setting with direct patient care.
• Computer keyboard skills and Windows applications.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine patient/resident care such as call light response, ambulation, positioning, hygiene assistance.
• Collects, records, and reports patient data; reports changes in condition.
• Provides general clerical support on the unit (phone, data entry, distribution of information).
