Job summary

Geisinger Community Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician for nights, 36 hours per week, Regular worker type. The role emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and communication to support patient care and unit operations.

Eligible candidates may receive an $1,500 sign-on bonus, a minimum hire rate of $18.94 per hour, and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Geisinger also offers up to $40,000 in financial support to pursue nursing education.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year related work experience (Preferred)
• High School Diploma or GED required/ Graduate from Specialty Training Program not required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months will be required

Responsibilities

• Provides enhanced patient care under the direction of the licensed nurse, which may include advanced dressing care, suctioning, removal of Foley Catheter and peripheral IV.
• Performs venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens per CLSI guidelines.
• Transports and prepares breast milk, infant and pediatric formulas as needed.
• Documents in medical records and ensures accuracy.
• Assists with activities of daily living and ensures patient safety.
• Coordinates transportation of patients to tests and communicates results to appropriate departments.
• Performs clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths as needed.
• Assists with transporting medications to and from Pharmacy and Blood Bank as needed.
• Participates in patient discharge planning and regulatory readiness as needed.
