FedEx Corporation is seeking a Full-Time Yard Switcher/Package Handler for overnight shifts (Midnight/Sunrise sorts). The role involves moving trailers between yards and doors, loading and unloading packages, and sorting items by labels using scanners and conveyors.

The job requires operating in a fast-paced environment, performing safety checks, and maintaining DOT compliance. No prior experience is required, though familiarity with yard equipment and good communication are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Move and switch trailers in yard from yard to load/unload doors and back.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management/central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Handle packages using hand-to-surface methods and load/unload as required.
• Sort packages by conveyor system based on labels and numbers.
• Lift and move packages during shifts of two to four hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
