Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a yard switcher/package handler to move trailers between yard doors and docks. You will assist with loading/unloading packages and sorting by scanning labels while following safety and DOT rules.

Role requires basic to no prior experience, ability to operate scanners and carts, and strong team communication in a fast-paced environment. Midnight shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions on work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors via hooking and moving parked trailers.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management/central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment.
• Adhere to yard switching safety processes.
