RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Unit Secretary for Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in the Labor & Delivery department. The role supports the nursing team, coordinates communications, and ensures accurate patient information in the EMR.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and prior clerical or customer service experience. Night shift, per diem as needed, with hourly pay in New Jersey.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Clerical, administrative or customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with electronic health records is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, families, visitors and physicians with exceptional service.
• Answer telephones, call bells, and intercoms and direct requests appropriately.
• Coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges maintaining accurate records.
• Enter physician orders and update patient information in EMR systems.
• Prepare and organize unit reports and documentation.
• Support daily nursing station operations and ensure a clean, orderly environment.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote efficient workflows.
